Dirk A. Walker Birmingham native and graduate of Industrial Design from Auburn
University, Dirk formed an early friendship with several local artists and
discovered the work and teachings of New York painter David A. Leffel, a
Contemporary Master teaching at the very prestigious Arts Student League. A
pupil of the Dutch and Flemish Old Masters such as Rembrandt, Velazquez, and
Pushman; Leffel’s teachings of the chiaroscuro (light & dark) style of
painting captivated him as a young artist. The interplay of light and shadow,
through texture, shapes, and color transforms the simple and ubiquitous objects
of everyday life into rich creations, and he knew the timeless quality of his
work and those masters before him was how he would hope to paint eventually.
As an artist receiving national recognition and now under
watchful eyes of collectors and serious investors, his work can be found throughout Birmingham and the Southeast in some of the most prestigious homes and on
exhibition at the Loretta Goodwin Gallery in the Historic Lakeview District of Downtown Birmingham.
Also Representing Dirk are The Anne Irwin Gallery in Atlanta, GA as well as The Elder Gallery in Charlotte, NC
